A new poll for use to partake in. One of the oldest conversations/debates in the chat room and on varios messages board is which companies products is best. So, lets have a poll. Which companies products do you use the most - and we shall presume that by using them the most you consider them to be the best. If you feel the ones you use most arent the best, please post a message to let us know which you think are best, and why you dont use them. If you take the poll feel free to post messages singing the praises of your favourites pouch brands, and saying which you feel are not so great (and why). This could be interesting..... Jase.

I've been a Coloplast girl for almost 20 years Esp like the newish velcro closure bags (no more clips - yeah!) I've sampled other products over the years but found Hollister just peeled off me after 2 - 3 days, Dansac had to big a 'crinkle' factor (ie made lots of crinkly noises) and the others just weren't up to scratch. I get 6 - 7 days wear from my one piece Coloplast ileo bag. Bear in mind that just because one product works great for one person does not necessarily mean it will work wonderfully for you as well - everyone's skin is different and you really need to ring around the different manufacturers and get as many free samples as you can to try out. www.ostomates.org

I use Coloplast Assura Convex.
The main reason I use these is because of the velcro closures. The majority of accidents I had were because the clip came off using my old Dansac appliances.

Coloplast two piece is what I use, I swim so the two piece with the stoma cap working best in the pools. The small blind bag I use most of the time if I am out and about and at home I use the large bags with the velcro closure. The down side is I have had the bag come off the flange at night and at several other times, definatly a bummer. thankfully it has not happened in the pools, I do not know why it happens, would like to here from others using this system to see if it is something I am doing. The flange seems to seal ok on the skin, better than the others I tried, I change it every other day just because I get the supplies paid for. They other two piece systems did not work as well, one piece are to large for swimming. Later

Gary uses ConvaTec. He's tried other brands in the past. A few years ago ConvaTec stopped making his favourite and he tried many others. He had many problems though, and evntually found one that suited...yep, by ConvaTec! ;D

I get two days out of an appliance, which seems short compared to other people's times, but since my supplies are free, i won't worry about it.
Hilary, your stoma nurse should be able to give you a Coloplast Assura sample to try. If not, I can show you one of mine.

I voted for Coloplast, which I use for my urostomy .... I also wanted to vote for Pelican which I use equally for my colostomy, but could only vote once. I think we should be allowed one vote per stoma .... ;D
Very happy with both so far (since March).

On how long I can ware the flange, anywhere from 8 hours to 6 days depending on my stoma condition skin condition and how much I am swimming or swetting. My supplies are free and I get 20 flanges per month which I usually use up. I have used eakin seals but they irritate my skin, I use a zink cream under the seal called 'Calmoseptine cream', the flange or tape can go right over it though it will not stick to it the skin heals well and quickly under this cream.

I voted for Coloplast. Joel has used Pelican when he was first born & we tried him with Convatec as he grew bigger. But they were a nightmare with the soft ties. Messy & difficult to keep them on. Then we tried the Coloplast Assura & although they are slightly too big, they are brilliant.... Last a lot longer than before (unless he pulls them off of course) and with the velcro closure, they are so clean. Now we will have to get used to colostomy ones next month. Colosplast have assured us that they will let us try the new 2 piece that have a lot softer ring on them. We'll see. Sue xx

While I had my colostomy I was given convatec to start with but I would only get maybe a day out of them and ended up totally blistered under the wafer. I changed to Hollister New Image, two piece and found those to be great, although I still only got around 1-2 days out of them most of the time, 3-4 days on odd occasions.
Since my reversal I have still got a bag for drainage and was given a coloplast drainable one and have found those to be really good too.

This is my first posting!! I use Cymed wafers on my colostomy and urostomy. I am overweight and the thicker wafers of the other manufacturers (and I tried LOTS!) would separate from my skin when I bent over or sat down. I was really frustrated until I saw an ad for Cymed and an offer of a free sample. I couldn't believe it!! No adhesives, no adhesives to clean up, no belts and so thin it didn't matter what shape my tummy was. I have been using them ever since--over a year and a half and I would recommend them to everyone. It takes me about 30 seconds to apply a new urostomy bag now. My urostomy bag lasts from 3-6 days (they weren't lasting a full day before!). I use a closed end colostomy bag with a filter and just change it once a day after my shower. It takes a little longer than the urostomy bag because I use some barrier wipe and stomadhesive barrier cream to protect my skin. Even so, I do both in 5 minutes flat. This thing is not running my life anymore!! It's nice that we are all in the same boat.

I use Convatec. I used the Durahesive wafer for years, but last year I began having lots of leaks with the wafers. Ducky kept talking about how great his Stomahesive Flexible wafers were... so after his reversal he sent me his leftover wafers. They worked great for me, so I switched to those.
The only problem I have with the Stomahesive Flexible wafer is that it tends to leave adhesive on my skin, so it takes longer to change now ... I prefer my skin to be clean and free of adhesive when I put a new wafer on. I dont remember ever having adhesive residue with the Durahesive wafers.
I average 7 days of wear time.

I started wiith Hollister Active Life one piece. It worked fine, for awhile. I actually got a week of wear out of them. Then, I had to switch to Convatec Durahesive wtih convexity because of a sneaky stoma wiggling underneath the flange. I still get only two days out of one set but since I have a NuHope hernia belt, it doesn't dare leak, it sticks tight to my tummy. Love it. Kim in Calif
