I would like to know if any one else has or is still getting the after effects of the morphine associated Hallucinations...during sleeping hours..? My colostomy/Stoma is a permanent fixture, so as I now have a new travelling companion called Skippy as he resides within my Marsupial Pouch and goes where I go, Does any one else have a name for theirs...LOL. Hi and welcome Bernie!! Good to see you here.
Sorry you've had it rough but glad you've come through it. Gary was on morphine for a few months, when son #1 was teething....luvverly! Anyway, I don't remember him having Hallucinations but it didn't really agree with him. He was terribly irritable and not really himself while on it.
As soon as he came off it he was back to normal, so I hope you can come off it soon. (and my teething baby just got his first pay cheque! ;D)

Hello There Bernie, Im actually allergic to morphene quite badly. However when I had it and found I was allergic not only did I have a rash-reaction and incredibly itchy eyes, but hallucinations too. At one point the tree outside my hospital window was blocking my view of the sun, so I picked it up - wihtout opening the window i hasten to add - and moved this massive great big tree to the other side of the hospital garden. Freaky. The following tells you more about morphine based meds and the side effects to expect when taking it. www.healthsquare.com/newrx/msc1277.htmHowever, the side effects should stop after use, unless you were on them for a long time in which case withdrawal may set in, and CAN cause hallucinations but rare. These also usually fade over the coming weeks without the drug. Hope this helps you. Jase. PS I dont name my stoma. Aprat from calling it a little shit every so often when things go wrong.

Hi Bernie - I too did a spell in intensive care - also had an epidural for five days after the op - then the morphine. I found I had wrecked concentration - short attention span and a rash first time around - this time ( reversal ) wasnt so bad with no ITU and not such a bad reaction to the operational meds - still have a rash tho ! My Stoma went by the name of Bilbo ( as in baggins - altho Jasons name *lil shit* was frequently uttered ! ) , I found naming my stoma helped my acceptance of it - and its personality developed quite considerably It certainly taxed the stoma nurse - she could never remember who called theres what - and had to wrack her brains when some old lady rang up saying *Bert * was playing up ! Good luck on your travels Kind regards Demmie
