I had a Colostomy on Aug. 8th because of a ruptured Colon due to Diverticulitis. I am due to have it reversed around Jan. 8th. My Question is since I had this procedure I have had a discharge periodically out of my rectum that looks like raw flesh. Sometimes every other day, sometimes once a week or every other week. A very small amount that looks like a raw fish tone. I went to the doctor back when this first happened in Aug. and he said this is just left overs in the rectum. Muscle Tissue he said it was. Can you please tell me if you have ever experieinced this or heard of this.

HI I have heard of *mucus* being expelled from the rectum after colostomy operations and in fact was warned to expect this , when I underwent simiar surgery ( for same reason ) as you had. Quite what form this *mucus* takes I don,t know - as it seemed to escape me. Hopefully some of the more expereinced people here will be able to advise you better. Best Wishes Demmie
