Hi, Since may of last year, I developed small holes around my stoma site, this was diagnosed as crohns. When they took a biopsy, the resulting larger hole became infected and then became quite large. They don't seem to know how to treat me and it is so frustrating. My consultant keeps recommending tests to rule out a fistula, which it is obviously not. Does anyone have any experience of this or any advice to offer me? sarah.

Hi Sarah, I'm sorry, this one has me puzzled and even Google didn't help me much.
I've posted your question on a Crohn's Board I visit (it's excellent) and you can view it and any replies by following this link:

I hope you can get some answers to this.

Hi there, I've experienced a hole in the skin around the stoma/underneath the flange this last few weeks. It was some kind of spot that grew into a hole. I treated it myself with Fucidin antibiotic cream, and cut a hole in the flange so that the air could get to the affected area. It was gone in about 10 days. The hole was a mm or two wide and deep. It had a lot of puss coming out of it too, along with blood. Dunno if this is any help to you or not but that is what I had, and how I got rid of it.
