Does anyone here know where I can get colostomy plugs. They are for my father in law. They have been discontinued in the US. I did get one box from Canada and now they tell me they have also discontinued them. They are manufactured in Denmark. We are desperate to get them. They stop gas noises and my father in law won't leave the house without them......thanks

I had heard that it was Convatec who discontinued the product line. You might want to call or email them to verify that.

The product you are probably thinking of is the "Coloplast Conseal" plug system. (Coloplast is a Danish company). Coloplast no longer make the Conseal system. Several online stores on the net are still listing them for sale, around $30 per box, but you'll have to pay as I doubt insurance would cover it, but you never know, and also availability will eventually dry up as back-stock vanishes. To be honest it's probably best for him to start looking for a replacement product. Theres a vasts amounts of new and established products on the market and hopefully something will be useful for him (I can persoanlyl recommend the Coloplast Assura range which is far superior to the conseal plug system imho which I tried for a few weeks and have major problems with.) Im not (at this time) aware of any other manufacturer that makes ostomy plugs. Sorry. Buh bye now, Jason D. webmaster and colostomist. www.ostomy.fsnet.co.uk

I will try to check out the coloplast Assura. My father in law is 86 and people that age a lot of the time don't like change. (Nor do I at 53). What online stores still offer the plugs? The only one I could find was in Canada and they don't offer them anymore....thanks for your help....

Hello again, If you search for "Coloplast Conseal" on Google.com you'll find quite a few sites listed thruout the 10 or so pages of results it churns out. A couple I've pulled off those pages that are listing the product are.... www.southwestmedical.com/mfgsearchresults.cfm?MFG_ID=Coloplastand www.rtamedicalsupply.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=01&Product_Code=WS-COL1445Having never used these companies personally, and having never heard of any body who has used them I cannot vouch for the service the offer, so you try them at your own discretion. ) You may want to contact whichever store it is you finally settle on to check they do have the stock (regardless of what it says online) just to be sure they do, because unless it is a live stock-update system on the site the stock may already by completely drained. So I would recommend caution. I would also check it is indeed the product he uses, and if so what product code / size it is so that you know you are ordering the right price. Prices online seems to be between $30 and $35 per box of ten plugs. Hope that helps and good luck, buh bye now, Jason D. webmaster and colostomist. www.ostomy. fsnet.co.uk
